Mt 8:1–3 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
There are many people, including Christians who ask the question “does God heal today?”. People ask, because they don’t see the evidence of it or hear the stories. Others say healings are not for today, they were only for the time of the first disciples. (I’m sure there are many who would disagree with that).
Whenever I think of Jesus saying to the leper “I Am willing”, compassion fills my heart because I recognise it was through Jesus love and compassion for the leper that he would heal him. Why would we think that Jesus would not still have that same compassion on anyone who asks for healing? The truth is… he does.
Mt 14:14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
God never changes, and neither does his love for people or compassion. When we see that not only are healings and miracles still taking place, but Jesus has compassion and WANTS to heal, this should increase our faith.. not in the healing, but in the one who heals. Believe him because he WANTS to heal us from sickness and disease.
