…but not of the world.

I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. John 17:14-19

Just a thought I have had mulling around for a while. I know I have mentioned before about experiencing what the world has to offer, yet is no comparison to living a life with Jesus – well, just something that made me think. If we as Christians distance ourselves from the world because we don’t want to involve ourselves in the ways of the world, then how can we relate to a world we do not know?

I think we as Christians do have to take notice of the world, trends, lifestyles etc, otherwise we can get “out of touch” with the world. I’m not talking about major news issues or anything like that, but how the world lives their daily lives.

I know from being in a place when I felt far from God, I experienced just how the world lives, I was living a life basically which was not glorifying to God and found it extremely difficult to draw close to God because of my situation, yet, I have been bought to a place where I can thank God for those experiences…why? Because it will be because of those experiences that I will have been enabled to relate to people, without judgement, who are going through the experiences I have been through.

Im quite sure the devil was probably rubbing his hands when I was far from God and going through these things, and he probably thought he was getting alot of credit and glory for how I was living – yet, because of those experiences, God will be the one who will be glorified. Because, by me relating to someone who goes through what I have been through, I can be a witness to them and they can be set free and God will be glorified.

You know when God says he doesn’t waste anything? I 100% believe that in my life – you could say, the times living in what feels like the wilderness, although it’s not a nice place to be and you don’t want to see anyone else going through it, God will still not waste that time.

It’s sometimes a difficult thing to grasp hold of that no matter what, when you are a child of God, God is still in control, God allows things for a purpose, God still has hold of us by His right hand, God will not forsake us or forget about us, He is still well clued up as to what is happening and what He is going to do with what is happening.

Thats encouraging! It means, that we can thank Him for our situations, it means we can have faith that God will bring good out of our mistakes one way or another, it means that even though we mess up, God will bring good out of it one way or another.

That doesnt of course give us a free ticket to do as we please, that means that if your heart is towards God, and your heart is truly repentant for the times when you have messed up, God forgives and uses it for good.

That makes me happy.
